Steel, concrete and glass bring form to the client’s dream for a high-tech castle that incorporates his passion for people, wine, and fine sports cars — overlooking the Back Bay of Newport Beach, California. The architects reimagined the client’s rare Lamborghini Countach as a piece of art, and mounted it to an entry wall. Under this showpiece they created a glass staircase, which housed his personal wine collection below, and above it, a skylight large enough to allow the car to be craned in during construction. Surrounding this “castle,” is the client’s working vineyard, and a 14 x 90 ft wine cave for storage of wine barrels, and for hosting tastings for friends and family.
